Actually.... in your case I'd say you should upgrade CPU and Mobo first, since even if you get better GPU it will just bottleneck it. Get atleast an i5 skylake or haswell and mobo first, and since new GPU are coming out soon the old GPU will go down in price.

My rig: Intel Core i7 4790k | MSI Z97 PC Mate | GSKILL Ripjaws X 16GB 1866MHz | ADATA Premier SP550 480GB SSD | Seagate Barracuda 3TB | Seagate Barracuda 2TB  | MSI Gaming X GTX 1070 | Thermaltake Versa N21 | Corsair CX550M Semi Modular PSU | AOC G2460PF 144Hz | Logitech G502 | GSKILL Ripjaws KM780  | GAMDIAS HEPHAESTUS V2  PCPartPicker | Old Build Log | New Build Log

imo the cpu is fine but the motherboard is deff 1 of the possibilities

There's not much point in changing mobo if you dont change cpu or the mobo is not broken. AM3+ is also a pretty much dead socket now, and that FX 6300 is really underpower. IF you are on a budget, I'd say get something like i5 4460 with a H97 board first. Else go for a skylake i5 and mobo. Ofc you need to upgrade that GPU soon, but CPU upgrade is more important for you right now IMO.
