cpu CPU Pick (budget build)

I'm doing a budget build at about 750$ and I don't know wich CPU to pick.

I was thinking about an AMD athlon X4 860K or an i3 6100.

Please give me an AMD and an Intel CPU.

That's a good CPU but I'm not looking for an octa-core.

I prefer spending less and get a quad core.

But wich one do you prefer of the ones I said above?

The i3 is faster in gaming, and you can upgrade to an i5/i7 down the road

Number of cores isn't everything. Intel's single core performance is way better. Also, i3 is dual core, but four threads. The i3 should perform slightly better, and has options for upgrading in the future, the Athlon is as good as it gets in that platform. So yeah,  i3 all the way.
