My brother recently got his new motherboard because the old one was faulty I put the new motherboard in everything looks fine it boots fine but the next day for some reason it boots for a second then turns off immediately (its like when i car is trying to turn over but no power is going through the car and struggles to turn on) the lights on the fans are flickering i have no idea whats going on with it any ideas?

Have you tried checking all the connections? Something sounds like it's checking for stability (ie ram, proper power), failing the check, and shutting down.

i re looked it seems that the CPU fan is not clipped in completely ive tried pushing it in further but it wont go any more in the other 2 clips seem to be in fine could this be the issue? its the normal intel fan

just take it out and put the pins back in again.

one would assume the machine needs the CPU fan to be in to boot as it doesn't want to make the CPU into toast

idk

You haven't turned the clips while pushing them in? It's a common mistake.

Edit: to make this more clear. Turning the clips aside is for remove only. They are supposed to point to the middle.

remember to support the backside of the motherboard when you push the pins inside,

you dont wanna crack your motherboard by installing a stock cooler by force lol

anyway a mis-fitted cooler wouldnt affect your computer from booting up

unless your cpu is fried due to overheating

the rest of the pc is new? or quite old? have you tried resetting cmos?

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Other side? It doesn't push against a cap or something else?

it feels like the holes are smaller but when i look at them they all look the same size theirs nothing stopping it from going in

I don't think you get me. Having boards as this the pin or the sink could bump against a cap. Better doublecheck clearance even when intel indicates keep clear areas around the socket.

There is 4 on the side that wont go in but there is plenty of clearance

When putting it out and try diffrent holes doesn't work it's time for a replacement. Seems more a factory inaccuracy with the cooler or the board.

It the fan i flipped it the side that goes in went in to the side that wouldnt work for the other clips and the clips that didnt want to go in wont go in for the holes that where working what CPU fan should he go with his using the i5 4590 1150 and btw the first motherboard was started to play up then stopped working completely we had to waited 8 weeks for them to tell us that there are giving us a replacement and i have a gut feeling they gave us a different motherboard same brand everything because when i had put it back in it seem slightly thinner in width
