I need to transport my desktop home from the dorms in May and am going to transport it by placing it on the floor of a car.  Does the car generate static electricity that could harm the computer? I'm wondering because when I moved it to the dorms from home, the PSU died less than a month later and had to get it replaced.  I don't want that to happen when moving it back home.  Also, my computer was plugged into the same power strip as my mini fridge when the PSU died and I heard that was a bad idea?

i have moved computers trough pretty barbaric means without any damage to the guts, i guess you just had bad luck and bad timing.

as for the power strip, if thats considered a bad idea your area needs new fridges...

Excessive vibration and bumps might damage your PC. I've had PCs transported via car long distance, and there was no apparent damage to the computer from the trip (I don't think the driver was particularly careful either). Try to lay the computer down with the motherboard side on the bottom, and be careful so that it doesn't slide around. If you wanted to be extra careful, you could remove the GPU, CPU cooler (if it is a big one), & HDD (moving parts).

I have transported my PC many times before (Dell Precision T5400... weighs at least 50 pounds with no sort of handle). I always put it in a seat with the motherboard side down and strap it in so it can't slide around or off of the seat. It did slide forward off a back seat and landed right on its face once but there wasn't any damage and everything is still fully functional. You shouldn't be too worried about it being jostled around unless you have a large video card. If you can, put it in a seat so there is at least some cushion to soak up bumps. I have a GTX 750ti and my CPU heat sinks screw into the chassis so I don't really have to worry about things breaking.

corsair support stock spare parts for the xxxD series, I know cause I got a new 250D top window since mine legitimately had the plexiglass pop out and fall on the motherboard

support is really really good too, I got a reply in 2 hours with an authorised RMA

idk

Haha I had to transport a haf x a bunch of times too, I think they're the same size. I think I used a blanket or something to cover the side panel.
