new to pc building

i am helping my friend build his first custom pc and im not that knowledgeable my self, but we go it working and windows on it and i went round this morning to finish off installing drivers. But we found that it wasn't registering the gpu, so we changed around some wires and now it wont pick up the gpu or the sshd we have. please help.

Could you elaborate on "changed around some wires". 

A picture of the inside of the PC could help if any connectors are missing. 

Have you updated the BIOS? Sometimes it can cause issues with not recognising components.

when i say changed some wires i mean like take them all out and put them back in trying not to use so meany adapters.i will get a photo when i can.
