SSD suddenly disappears

My SSD was working fine for a couple of months but a couple of days ago it just "disconnected" and its not appearing in my computer and all of my files are gone. 

Could it be the SATA cable or the SSD broke?

Try plugging it into a separate computer and see if it detected? Do you have an external enclosure you can use to test.
