i am going to upgrade the hard disk to an ssd on my laptop and i was wondering if i should upgrade the ram too and what benefits would i get from 8gb to 16gb?

i mostly use the laptop for CAD school projects and games

on this site i found many different rams that are compatible with the laptop http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for//lenovo-y50-70

the site says that both ddr3l and ddr3 and compatible with my laptop so i chose this one

Crucial ram 8gb ddr3l tp1600Mhz CL11 http://www.amazon.de/dp/B006YG8X9Y/ref=twister_B00I0RJIC6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

but when i search ddr3l on wikipedia is says that it is not compatible with older non low voltage rams

currently i have one stick of sodimm ram installed Hyundai 8GB DDR3 800Mhz 1.35V (according to cpu-z)

and is samsung ssd 850 evo compatible with my laptop?

We'd really need more information about your laptop to give you an accurate answer.  Generally speaking, the way you are describing using your laptop will benefit from the additional 8GB of RAM, but it will be limited unless you are really pushing things.

The best way to choose RAM for your laptop is to go to a forum specific to your laptop and search for RAM threads.  Your current RAM and the RAM that you are thinking about ordering are both 1.35v, but that doesn't mean that the new RAM will be compatible with the laptop's motherboard or even the other stick of RAM.  Research before you order and stick with memory that has worked well for other's.

There are several different variations of the Samsung 850 Evo (M.2 PCIe, M.2 SATA, standard SSD).  Once again, we'd need more information on you laptop to help answer that question.  Refer to forums specifically about you laptop.  You'll learn quite a bit about it there.
