I'm a novice when it comes to web design/html. I currently maintain the wordpress sites at the place I work for along with my other responsibilites. They asked me to create a forum. I set one up using bbpress and buddypress but its a pain to try and format. I also do not like that users log in via the wordpress login and that their users are stored as wordpress users.

Is there a better option for this? It doesn't have to integrate to wordpress, I can set it up and something else on a subdomain. Something like this forum would be amazing where they can log in with google, facebook, etc.

Any ideas?

This site uses Invision Power Services and I have been noticing other sites using this service as well.

Guess you gotta pay for the nice stuff unless you're skilled enough to build it from scratch. I'll keep trying to make Buddypress/bbPress work.

Thank you for the information though!

As said, this forum uses IPS. And its really heavily modified and using several plugins. So things like FB/Google/Steam logins need to be added on top of default config.
