So the w key on my mechanical keyboard is starting to fail after 2.5 years of use, down presses are becoming inconsistent.

Pressing straight down doesn't work most of the time, im having to press on the outside of the key which gets awkward in rocket league and cs go.

I'm used to the red switch so would like to get one with reds again, but how close are the blues and browns?

Red and Black Cherry MX switches are most used for gaming, with black ones being a little more "heavier" when pressing them down.

Here is a pretty much complete guide about mechanical keyboards you can check out if you are intrested. http://www.daskeyboard.com/blog/mechanical-keyboard-guide/

What keyboard are you using atm?

Have you considered maybe repairing it yourself? If you are little bit handy you might aswell try it and replace that one failing switch?

I'm using a CoolerMaster Quickfire Pro Red.

I hadn't considered trying to repair it, although it would be a lot cheaper.

I dont think i would have the patience for it though

Repairing it would definetly be the most economic solution, but definetly the most complicated one. You would need soldering material and definetly some patience...

I switched a few weeks ago from black cherry mx switches to red ones.As a heavy CSGO Gamer I really enjoy playing on both keyboards but it somehow just feels better on the Cherry mx red Keyboard. (Corsair K65 RGB) On the other hand I feel uncomfortable when typing, but I'm sure it's just a thing to get used to...

Best for typing are definetly Cherry MX blue, which I use at work.

But I guess this is everything about the taste. You might even prefer the blue ones for gaming or the red ones for typing...

Have you ever tried any other types of switches apart from the red ones?
