I'm putting my pc together outside my case to make sure at least the main pieces work. My Xeon e3 1231v3 with a stock cooler on msi sli z97 krait edition and just an ssd currently hooked up with my display tv on the mobo hdmi connection. So I'm testing by jumpering the 2 pins, and the cpu fan starts up, then stops, then starts up, then stops, continuously for about 5 sec each. I'm not getting any bios screen on my tv. Hopefully someone can tell me what's wrong.

I have 24 main power pin connected, cpu fan and cpu power connected as well as sata into my ssd and power to the ssd from psu. Also my 16gb ddr3 is connected. Help anyone???

you won't get any video as that CPU has no onboard graphics. you will need a dedicated GPU to display video.

Ok thank you. I'll install my gpu then continue. Why does the fan keep turning on an off though?

because the system cannot pass POST operations. so it restarts till it will pass POST.

So I've added the gpu to the system and it does the same thing. Now both the cpu fan and GPU fan start and stop at about 5 seconds intervals. And no bios

Thank you that helped. Thought it was my RAM but I tried each one at a time and got a bios, but when I install both at same time, nothing. Must be something with dual channel, or the 4th DIMM. Either way I believe that's a mobo issue
