I would agree with trying to get into i5 if you can for the newer platform (USB3.1 Type C).

From the parts you have listed I'm thinking around a $850US build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/gqDhnQ

Would suggest getting a lower watt PSU and a 1TB drive if your dead set on AMD.

I would suggest this as an i5 option for about $950: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2kCgD3

Could take the PSU down to the 550W to save a little more and still get a second 970 for SLI later.

In both options would think of getting an SSD, once you go SSD you will never go back.

The 8320 beats the i5 6600k in gaming when overclocked to 4.8 ghz

With $1000US I would add in an SSD (Samsung 850EVO 250GB maybe) for your boot drive and games, will help with load time. The Intel option will give you an upgrade path but if your dead set on AMD I would wait for the new chipset and get the upgrade path that way. Up to you mate, can only let  you know what I think and I'm open about being an Intel man.

I will upgrade after 5 years only. By that time, amd Zen cpus will be there to kill intel...
