Thinking of building a home server soon since we have so much shit at my house.  Just a small one..

 

Anyways,  let me know if it's a good or shitty idea.

Also I need someone to tell me the parts I need lol

Pars? Build a low power PC and you're there.  Stick more HDD's in it, connect it to your router, boom.  Now you just need to decide what OS.

Should I not have any SSD's in it?  Obviously I know they aren't necessary but helpful?  And what OS would you recommend?

What are you using it for? A home server is rather non-specific to the task that you actually want it to do.

FreeNAS will work great for that.
