Encrypting Android and USB access

I was thinking about encrypting my phone to give myself some extra security, but I'm not sure if doing so will affect my ability to access files via USB. If I plug in an encrypted Android phone (version 5.1) into my computer, will I be able to access the files like a flash drive?

you will still be able to access your files even if the phone is encrypted.
