Static mic noise, help?

Greetings,

So I used to have a Logitech G35, but I find it very uncomfy and have only used for voice chat. I use a Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro for audio/video and I am very happy with it.. Which is why I decided upons Linus' recommendation to buy a modmic 4.0.

Though after happily receving it, I have static noise using my integrated desktop MB mic input. My motherboard is an Asus VII Hero Z97 and I thought was supposed to have a good sound card.. At least it drives my headphones with a very good sound quality. Tried connecting it in the front panel as well, and keep it away from all other electric/signal cables to avoid interference.

Tried to connect my modmic to my laptop and all my static noise was gone, so it is clearly a grounding (GND) issue in my desktop, whether it is because of other components or what it may be, it is there.

VII Hero comes with Realteks software, and I can get rid of the static sound through the software, but end up sounding very metallic/robotic.. Not very natural sounding.

So, I am guessing a DAC is my only saviour? I could get another internal sound card, but I am predicting that it will only give me the same static noise.

Any suggestions what I can do to solve this?

Thanks in advance

Make sure your system is connected to a grounded wall socket. If the hum is in the same frequency range as your AC power and if power plugs in your region are reversable, try plugging it into the wall the other way around.

Thanks for your reply!

Yeah had a feeling that the AC power from the wall could be the issue.. Sadly I live in an older house without grounded sockets, so that is probably the reason.

Think that one of these could be my solution? http://www.roccat.org/en-US/Products/Gaming-Sound/Juke/ Or doesnt that filter the noise?

My G35 has zero static sound, which runs through USB.

Power shoudlnt be a problem since its going through your power supply unit
