Windows Product Key Help

Hello! I have this old PC and its HDD failed. I have the Product Key for it, but it needs Windows Vista Home Basic. I was able to find this download for Home Premium, but the product key wouldn't work for it because it wasn't basic. And I can't find an Install Media for it. I also have this old Windows 7 Compaq laptop that died. I also have the key for it. But when I go on Microsoft's website to download the ISO, it tells me to enter my Product Key. I did this, and it said it was for HP software or something like that and it wouldn't give me the ISO. Help? Thanks

it's an oem key so microsoft won't help you with it. as far as a install disk for either vista or 7 you could see if a friend has one, or maybe a local shop would give/ sell you one.

Or just upgrade to Windows 10 and crack it.

the oem 7 key should actually be able to activate 10 I think.

I've used KMS activator to activate it, i still have it in my Google Drive so if you want it i will send it without annoying on-click ads.

I've been doing that with hp's, dell's, acer's, toshiba's, etc.. since they implemented it in the November patch. Before you had to do an upgrade from an activated 7 or 8 pc.

I say give it a try. Just install the corresponding version of Win10.

If it don't work, get Windows cheap.

Oh so its like a crack? Well using a Windows 10 Install media actually DID work. Thanks for your help.
