Hey guys!

I'm helping a friend building his gaming pc. One of his other friends has said that he should use an FX processor so that can not be changed! Any other suggestion for this build?

Thanks a lot!!

Intel core I5 4460, Gigabyte H97M-HD3, Gigabyte gtx 760, 8 GB corsair value ram, Thermaltake core v21, Thermaltake Smart 630W PSU

Alcatel OneTouch D5... IT WORKS!!

Whoever told him that he "needed" to use a FX chip is a moron.

This build is far superior IMO as you are not on a completely dead socket or chipset. You can do some amazing futureproofing on the skylake platform, and its performance is almost as well in CPU heavy tasks as the 8 core.

Well what's the equivalent in Euros? are you able to order from the UK, or Germany, or Italy?

if AMD is the best you can do in your area you're going to want a 990FX board, probably from ASUS like this one

https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-m5a99xevor20

Don't buy WD green drives, they'll probably die if used in a daily driver system, go for Blues/Reds/Blacks depending on which of those is cheapest

Maybe look for Sandisk SSDs at around that same price

and you're going to want a better PSU, something from Seasonic, XFX, Super Flower, or the G series from EVGA are going to be better

I checked. If I go with the intel than from an r9 380x it goes to a r9 380. I think that is a good tradeoff!! I just figured it out!! It is already quite hard to fit in this psu.... The green drive will only be used for big games. I have a green drive and it worked for the past 3 years without a hitch! Is the OCZ drive not good? I can change it to a few others! I just  don't know what is the best for this price!

Actually, AFAIK, green and blue are the same now. They merged like a few years ago (or just 1 year ago).

Some dudes would probably suggest a Black since they're just a few more bucks against blues.

Isn't the green drive still made with less rare earth metal or something

it's not that OCZ is too bad or anything, it's just that san disk has some decent budget drives

Not sure about that. But here's a link to explain what I'm saying:

Right, but current Green drives are still the old slow green drives
