Need a Recommendation on Powerline Adapters / Network Adapters

The 6ix God

My internet keeps lagging in general and on League of Legends (Like 10k ping when this has never happened before and its pissing me off). I have switched routers with Rogers like 3 times with a specialist coming in and eventually it all goes to shit again. Now I have a desktop setup where my router is and if I speedtest it i'll get from 150mbps-200mbps (this is a wired connection however). Upstairs (3 floors up) I get about 48-55 on a wireless adapter. Always 12 Upload speed. Now i'm getting about 20 on those horrible days. I've had this wireless network adapter for 2-3 years and I think it may having something to do with this so i'm investing in buying a new one. (http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/trendnet-wireless-network-card-tew684ub) However I heard about Powerline Adapters and it could be potentially better than using a wireless network adapter.

So i'm asking for some recommendations on what I should get from this community. Both Wireless Network Adapters and Powerline if you think it would be better.

Currency: CAD.

Budget: 70-80 Max. I'm trying not to spend too much on this bullshit.

Before anyone asks I can't get wired. I'm 3 floors away from my router. I wouldn't be posting this if I could.

A bit over budget, but I have those ones albeit the UK versions and have to say I find them brilliant. Pair them with a gigabit switch to get wired access or use an old router maybe to get wireless + wired 3 floors up... hope that helps

It does help but why can I not find these in store for the same price on Amazon. Checked NewEgg it's like 100+ and some other store. I plan to buy them in person so if I don't see a difference I can return them easily and not have to go through the shipping bullshit.

Edit: Also I might end up going with the $44 one tbh.

I used to have some like the ones you linked to, they weren't good for me at all that's why I invested in the 1200 instead, can get gigabit speed now all through the house wired and wireless speeds have improved too with the access point, I get almost the same internet speed wireless as wired now at approx 68Mbps, whereas with the av500 with the same access point I would only get maybe 20-30 on the same devices... doesn't really make sense and I know some people might agrue with me, but it is honestly the truth. I used to mess about with my network almost on a weekly basis due to bu****it speeds my family was getting, tried tons of things to try and sort out the problem, in the end this has made my life so much easier now :)

Also, with Amazon they have a pretty good track record on taking back faulty appliances and things that don't live up to expectations... anyway good luck with whichever way you go with these, I just wanted to give you my own experience of the homeplugs.

I appreciate that. All I could ever ask for is your honest opinion and i'm glad to hear someone's review on the product. I'll consider if so thank you. I'm just open to any other recommendations people may have.

Thanks once again.

Yeah sometimes you gotta save on the stuff that aren't necessarily a need but rather a want. Seems like it's only you and me on this though.

Purchased powerline and it came today. On a bad day I would get 20mbps with my network adapter on a good day(most of the time) 60mbps. Powerline 157-170 solid. Looks like i'm sticking to this.

Thanks for the help paddy.
