[HELP] Software Development IDEAS WANTED

I have an assignment to develop a piece of software about my chosen topic (Evolution of Software) and I'm stuck on ideas.

I have 2 weeks to complete the task and I'd greatly appreciate it if you guys could throw me some ideas because I'm just lost..

 

When I complete the program, I might even share a download link to gather some criticism.

Start with a command line interface and have commands that advance it to something like windows explorer(not to be confused with internet explorer).
