Hello!
I am planning to install Plex on my NAS server, beacuse I just saw the video of Linus talking about streaming movies when outside of the network.
I want to install it, beacuse I just started on Stargate SG-1, I ripped the DVD`s over to my server and want to see them when I am on the train etc.
But! It`s a one time $5 fee, do I need to pay to get my server up and going and stream outside the network?

Thanks :)

You don't need to pay anything for that. As long as you have ports open it's functionally the same as streaming within your home network.

You MAY need to pay for something like an android app if you plan to watch stuff on that. Otherwise, you're fine.

You have to pay to use the iOS and android apps, either a one time fee for the app itself, or a subscription to Plex Pass. Initial setup of the server should be done in a web browser on the local network. After that you can use the web browser on your phone/tablet/whatever, or an app to watch media. The apps do add a lot of mobile-specific functionality.

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:

I highly recommend the plex app, makes it much easier/faster for mobile use and streaming to chromecast if you have one.

If you want to make life easier for organising your tv shows, look into sick beard. It requires a bit of setup, but if you download to shows to a folder, it will take them, rename them and sort them into their own folders.
