NAS CPU Question

Crowman
Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,

A pentium can handle about 2 transcoded streams while an i3 can handle about 4. If they're not being transcoded, then a celeron is enough.

I am in the process of parting out a home NAS build that I will be putting FreeNAS on. I plan on using PLEX for streaming and wanted to know what type of CPU I should be getting so 2-3 people can stream. Right now I am looking at the Intel Celeron G1840 and just wanted to make sure that was enough.

Looks like it might be better to go with an i3 then just to be safe. Thanks for the help
