Can't change boot logo

AroundWayOtherThe

So I've always been one to customize everything I can when it comes to the UI of something. Windows is no exception. Anyway, as a result of this, I've screwed up a few important system files a fair few times (and thankfully have been able to fix it usually). However, I can't seem to fix this issue I'm having where the boot screen is stuck at the old Vista boot screen (I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate). This happened after a system recovery I performed (I forget what the initial issue was).

After Googling the problem, I came across a solution, which was to type either

  • bcdedit /set {current} locale en-US
  • bcdboot %WinDir% /l en-US

into the administrator command prompt. Neither of these worked.

I've tried using Win7BootUpdater (changes boot screen of Win7), but that won't even run now, it just returns an error before crashing:

There was a problem verifying 'winload.exe.mui'.

The winload.exe.mui file could not be read as a PE file.

Got to 'Options' and select an appropriate winload.exe.mui

Any other workarounds that anyone is aware of would be greatly appreciated.

Wit is educated insolence.

I'm using the same program and till now this problem that you mentioned never happened to me. Btw maybe I know the cause of the problem, after a bit of research I "maybe" found out the problem that you said. The fault could cased by that file where the bootlogo was that the file just got corrupted. Things to try: use another bootlogo and if didn't make any different try to update or find another program.

Btw I did my best to help you.

Watch out, there might be ninjas out there
