You have to set it up, it is very complicated to do.

 

You will have to look up a guide, I am no expert. I have set speedfan to control a single fan and it took me a while. Also your mobo has to have actual 4pin PWM signal, sometimes the only header with true PWM is the cpu_fan.

Speedfan is actually really simple to set up and use, and because it works off the motherboard chips, it can control both PWM and voltage controlled fans without any issue. I used it with my old Athlon 64 x2 Acer to keep it quiet.

 

Once the program is open, go to Configure -> Advanced tab -> Then using the dropdown list next to "Chip", click through them until you see one that has more than just "Temperature offset" listed (My Gryphon Z97's chip lists "PWM 1 Mode") -> Click the one you want to change (Find the right one using trial and error if you want a specific fan) and then from the dropdown list select "Manual" -> Press OK and set the speed in the main window
