HELLO! New to the forums here. I've been watching linustechtips on YouTube for some time now. Love the content.

Joined the form today because of the SteamVR database challenge thing. Already posted my results with and without OC on a 7970. OH and FYI, with an overclock you get a VR Capable score of 2.1! Otherwise, it hates you. 0.6. I don't know why dropping below 90FPS in VR is such a bad thing. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.

So about me, I've been in IT since I was a teenager. Got my first job building and troubleshooting computers at a local shop when I was 17. Since then I've used that knowledge to pay the bills though collage and even started my own business 6 years ago. Now, at 35, I closed my business to step into a full time Dad roll at home. Its been great! I get to spend a lot of time with my 4 crazy kids and invest time into things I normally would have to ignore, like hobbies!

I organized my life into 5 basic items. Got to keep it simple right?

  1. Family - Always comes first
  2. Computers - Now as an enthusiast!
  3. Aviation - Love flying airplanes. The real ones, not the RC one.
  4. Photography and Videography - Grouped these guys together. I spend a lot of time making videos and taking pictures.
  5. Video Games - I love video games. Granted at this point in my life I hardly have time to really indulge like I want to. But is fun to pull up a game now and then.

That's about it. Me in a nut shell. Updated my profile page with my PC specs. Nothing really special, but it handles everything I throw at it! Its served me well for several years. Only thing I've been upgrading on it is the video card. Originally I was running a GTX 460. Found a second hand Radeon 7970 with aftermarket cooler for $100 USD one day and decided to jump on it. Let me say, its an amazing piece of hardware for the money. It still handles the games I throw at it with no problems, even the new ones! I do use the computer for gaming, but also for video editing. I love making and editing videos. Currently using PowerDirector 14. Starting to hate it and really want to move onto something a bit stronger, or that can at least utilize my hardware better. Keeps freezing all the time... OH and the sound system I have hooded up to my computer is just amazing. Love me some music people! You can see the specs of that on my profile page.

Now its shameless plug time. Don't think this is the only reason I'm here. I will be around, but I'm very excited about all this as well.  I've combined all my hobbies into one, Flying Airplanes. I use my cameras to record videos flying, and then edit them on my computer.... In between playing some games of course.  Recently I entered a contest to win a new Bose Aviation headset. These guys cost $1100 USD and they're nothing to laugh at. In order to win, I had to create a video response. I've posted my Video below and a link to our Youtube channel. If you have a moment watch the video! Views help out a lot in the contest. Otherwise, check out some of the videos my buddy and I have made recently, like our trip to Sadona, AZ. Some amazing video and pictures there. Or our most recent video where we took a trip to Lake Havasu, AZ. We had fun there with a little VLOG along with some fun camera angles.

Anyways, I hope to see you guys around. I love talking computer and hardware. Ask me anything, I'll have a opinion or advice. =)
