I wouldnt say this is a "problem" more like a hassle.

First of all, If you connect the 2 drives, When you boot it up. your BIOS will detect 2 operating system( it doesnt matter if you set which one is which for your boot drive). Each and every time you have to manually select which drive you want to boot it from. If that is not the case please ignore this.

The second one would be when you are in one of the drives. You have access to the other drive that you have your alternate windows version on and you have access to the system files or what not. I am not saying that you will but there is a possibility that you would damage the system file from the alternate os by mistake. it also makes it easier if there is a virus in your current os to infect your alternate os.

if that is not a problem for you, please ignore this then~

I run 10 and 7 on my 2 main desktops and 8.1 and 10 on my HTPC. Since 8 came out 10,8.1, and 8 share the same bootloader and can be set to boot any windows since Vista I think? (or you can set a command to boot into the classic Vista/7 boot loader which can boot XP too) you can set a partition or have another drive and install windows in order 8.1 first then 10 on the other, or have a second drive and disconnect your main OS drive and install which ever Windows on the second, then rehook up the main drive. On 1 of my PCs I installed 7 then set up another drive and installed 10 and use the 10 boot loader to boot 10 or 7, On my HTPC I installed 8.1, made a partition and installed 10. I set the loader to default to 8.1. Then on my main rig I installed 10 on my SSD, unhooked it and then installed 7 on my RAID 1 HDD setup, then hooked the SSD back up, When I want to use 7 I just go to the system boot menu and and pick my RAID 1 HDD and it boots without the need of a bootloader menu. I also Have a setup that triple boots 8.1, 7, and XP that uses the classic Vista/7 bootloader. As long as the installs are on separate drives or partitions You'll be fine and it's totally safe. The danger is installing 2 windows on 1 partition, which you haven't been able to do since XP anyway. But keep in mind 7 and 8.1 are still supported.7 until 2020 and 8.1 until 2023 so you're fine in what ever you do.

CPU: Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 3960X | Motherboard: Intel DX79SR "Stormville" | RAM: 32GB G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series DDR3 PC3-12800 (4x 8GB) Quad-Channel | GPU: 2x EVGA GTX 970 FTW 4GB in SLI (I have Many other builds plus 100+ Macs (don't judge me)... Many specs are listed on my profile)
