COOLER MASTER Hyper N 520

Hello all,

Currently working on a build and I'm trying to decide if I should get an aftermarket fan for my CPU. The cpu I will be putting in this build will be the i5 4670k. Is it work my while to get an aftermarket fan and if so, is the

COOLER MASTER Hyper N 520 a good choice? I was looking at the h100i from corsair as well but I'm thinking I might settle for air cooling for now. I am open to suggestions on fans in the same price range as well.

Thanks,

Dannyrg90

Well the whole point of an unlocked CPU is to overclock. If you are not overclocking and you have the 4670k, you're probably doing it wrong. I would suggest the Hyper 212 EVO instead.

I haven't oc'd before as this is the first gaming oriented build I am working on. I would like to have the option available though. Is the hyper 212 EVO generally considered the top in that price range?

Also, is there much difference between the 212 evo and the 212 evo plus?

Yes, the 212 is comparable to a h60 for the half the price.

Thanks! If I were eventually to get a h100i from Corsair, would that provide much better cooling for the cost or would I be better of sticking with the 212?

The h100i is very good, and worth the money. However the Swiftech h220 costs roughly the same and you can add a GPU into the loop, so I would recommend getting the h220.

This is a great cooler. I have it with my 3570K at 4.4 and it runs cool. It only runs a bit hot since I'm in a garage so yeah. I would recommend getting low profile 92mm fans from Noctua.

Is the h220 an actual water cooling unit or a simpler design like the h100i? I don't think I'm experienced enough to give water cooling a try yet lol.

It's an AiO like the h100i, but it gives you the option to add a GPU block if you want. Thus making it one of the AiO best coolers around that price range.

And the h100i and the h220 give significantly better performance than the 212?

Correct.

Do you know of the NZXT kraken series stacks up against those?

From what I've heard, they're quieter than the hydro series from Corsair, but I've not heard about how the temperatures compare to Corsair's hydro series. And without modding, you wouldn't be able to put a GPU block into a Kraken's loop, so I would still recommend the h220.

Yes it is the king of low budget coolers.
