Okay, so I've been using my midrange gaming rig (full specs in signature) for almost a year now, and it's obviously not the greatest. It gets the job done for me in most cases, but I would like to upgrade the graphics card. Basically what I'm asking is a few things: 1. If I get a card in the $250 to $300 range (960, 970 or R9 380 most likely), which I can't afford anything more than, will my CPU or anything else in the build bottleneck the card and will need an upgrade as well? 2. Would I have to upgrade my PSU right away? Using a 500W Delta one at the moment. 3. How much better performance will one of these cards actually be than my stock speed 760? Thanks.

Nothing should bottleneck, your PSU is absolutely fine.

In terms of performance... Well, think of it this way:

You mentioned the 970 as an option, and you have a 760. The 970 performs slightly better than the 780 ti.

"Do as I say, not as I do."

-Because you actually care if it makes sense.

Okay. That performance metric isn't exactly helpful because I don't really know how much better a 780 Ti would be than a 760. I meant more like do you think it's a worthwhile upgrade when I'm probably not going to change out the card for a long time if ever afterwards?

If you're going for a long-term card, you might want to wait for the upcoming cards because they'll probably be a huge step, but it's hard to tell.

I used the 780 ti as an example because it's the highest-tier card in the 700 series, so it's easier to imagine its performance in comparison to the 760.

Okay, this card will be fine for now so I'll wait a little while. Thanks
