best gpu for previous pc

i have this mobo (pcie2 slots): asus p5ql pro https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5QL_PRO/

 i was thinking of puting upgrading it with a geforce 950 or 750 ti. i know that for playing games the cpu will be the bottleneck, so i was wondering if there is any way to find out which gpu should i buy to get maximum performance out of this system and spending the least
