Yes you can with something like inputmapper but it's simpler to just use an X1/X360 controller as they are supported natively by most games on the Windows platform.

I don't like 2D games...I just couldn't get into them.. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I have a wired 360 controller but i can't find the adapter that makes it into a usb

What do you mean?

The wired 360 controller uses a wired USB cable as standard.

I don't like 2D games...I just couldn't get into them.. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Mine doesn't have one, it has a weird l shaped thing that plugs into a usb adapter, this is the cable the controller has, and what i need for it:

I guess you could either try and source that cable, and if not, I'd recommend buying a wired X1 controller for PC.

I think i will just buy one, i can get them for £2 off amazon

I would imagine if you can use a cable to make a wired connection to your computer, you won't have a problem having games recognize it.  Support is kinda there, and IIRC there are people out there that use PS3/4 controllers just fine in GTA 5.  If not, there's third-party software you can use.
