970 display issues

So I'm running SLI'd 970's with a 6700k. About 2 months ago I started having an issue where when playing games my Card would just stop outputting to my monitor but my PC would continue to run including the game. However, in order to get the GPU's outputting again a hard restart would be required. I tried multiple diffrent ways to resolve this problem. Reinstalling windows 10, total driver refresh, no OC, flash with the latest BIOS. Same problem occurred. I decided to swap the GPU configuration round and also reinstalled the drivers. This worked.

However it's happening again since updating my Driver to 362.00.

I have no idea guys.

Yeah, dependent on the game the time can vary.

tried just playing with one of the cards and not in sli mode

Yeah no change. My friend has a very similar setup to me however just a singular Strix 970 and he was getting the same issue a few months ago.

I feel it's software based.
