Hello,

Reacently, our small business bought ip phones. They requare dhcp, but our network is static. I have problems configuring dhcp. Also we have fortigate which filters and block sites, it's configured on static too. So if i want to change to dhcp i need to change fortigate and router to dhcp?

Wait, @Windspeed36 if my network now is on static, pc network is on static, so when i'm gonna change network from static to dhcp all computer ip address's will be gone?

Yes - if you select assign automatically for every device, they'll pull their IP, default gateway and DNS from the DHCP server.

I don't really understand your question. You got a network with a bunch of static IPs right now, and no DHCP server. You need to set up a DHCP server because your phones needs it. What is the question? The only thing you need to do is get a DHCP server (your router might be able to do it, or your FortiGate). You won't have to touch the settings of your other stuff like the computers, because they can keep on using static IPs if you want them to. Just make sure your DHCP pool won't include any of the static IPs. Either that, or you can configure them to use DHCP as well. I assume you used static IPs for a reason though so that might not be a good idea.

Still don't quite understand what you mean. Let's assume that you get a DHCP server and change all your computers from static IPs to DHCP. If you do that, then they will get random addresses. If your computer got 192.168.1.10 today, with a static IP, then it probably won't get that one with DHCP enabled. Although it is possible to make it so that a specific device always gets a specific IP even with DHCP enabled, but you should just use a static IP at that point.

How to enable dhcp server

That depends on which gear you got and how the network looks. I don't have a FortiGate, and I don't know which router you got so I can't give you a step-by-step guide.

Just look for DHCP server options on the device closest to your end devices and enable DHCP server on that, then configure your DHCP pools appropriately.
