Emachine (wont) USB boot

cleb

I have an emachine, specs and information here -> http://www.cnet.com/products/emachines-t6536-athlon-64-3800-plus-2-4-ghz/specs/

It has USB boot in the BIOS so I set it to that. Whenever I try to boot it goes a blank screen with the blinking cursor. I do not hear any beeps. Although that may also signal a problem with the mobo speaker. I've tried directly selecting the USB in boot, as it does see it, I've tried rewriting the ISO, yes I use an ISO maker not just stick it on there. I've tried using different ports as well. Is this too old for this or??? I'm going to try a ISO CD next but I want to know if there's anything else I should check/ be concerned about.

Also the OS I am trying to boot is xubuntu

I'll let you know how it goes. I just like to play with old systems and push them and tinker.
