CPU is getting baked.

So I was wondering if someone could help me out troubleshooting why my CPU runs at REALLY bad temperatures while it's under a heavy load.

When I was playing The Witcher 3 it was consistently hovering around 100-105 °C, which I don't assume is good for it.

It's a Xeon E3 1230 v2.

This is what it looks like straight after a Cinebench testfb60ab270e.png

It was actually around 90 degrees most of the time, though.

This is how much it bottlenecks it

I'm using my stock cooler on my Thermaltake V3 BlacX Edition case.

Is fixing it as simple as getting a new cooler, or am I doing something wrong?

If I can provide any other info I'd be happy to do so.

Thank you.

Try reseating your cooler and reapplying thermal paste.

I did reapply the thermal grease once, helped maybe by 1-2 degrees, not much else.

How do I reseat the cooler? Not familiar with the procedure.

If that doesnt help by re doing your thermal paste then I would buy a Cooler Master 212 evo cpu cooler.

Just take it off and make sure you put it back on correctly.

As for getting a new cooler, I'm $10 short on the CM Evo one, and shipping would take ~3-5 weeks.

I'm kinda scared that my CPU will genuinely die during that time.

I think my CPU and cooling are a huge bottleneck on my PC.

okay so there are 2 things here:

1. too little gease on the cpu which does not conduct well

2. cooler is not contacting well with cpu

if you can please send photo of removed cooler so we can see if the paste is in good amout and maybe you didnt clean up cpu before re - applying the paste

Also what is your method you used for applying cpu paste?

A small line, pretty much how Linus does it in his videos.
