2 disadvantages once you OC past 103bclk

 

temp sensors get disable. your motherboard has a cool feature where you can monitor temps via the post code led so this disadvantage doesnt affect you.

 

avx instructions get disabled . this may or may not affect programs you run if they are avx enabled.

 

basically there are only benefits :)

 

i know there is a compatible oc bios for your board out there if your current one doesnt support oc

 

im not sure how far the 6700 non k will go

You can find an OC bios here. windows updates hasnt affected anything. quick google search and anyone can learn how to disable win 10 auto updates

Should be possible to read PECI temps with the right software but probably thermal throttling does not work therefore allowing the CPU to reach temps of 120C or more before tripping. How many digits on that post code LED, 2? 

 

Also AFAIK breaks use of integrated graphics, power measurements and limiting, speed step, idle C-states and a few others, some already mentioned.

 

Haven't heard of a Windows Update that breaks this yet, dunno where that's coming from.

Thank you. Finally an answer that says yes. I still haven't gotten around to build a PC yet, but I'll definitely try this out.
