PC upgrade please help

Hi

I'm looking into buying a new Gpu, Memory and Psu

Current build:

Cpu: Intel Core i7-3930K

Mobo: Asus Rampage iv black edition

Ram: 2x 4Gb Kingston Ram

Gpu: Dont have one

Psu: thermaletake 1200w but it's old and making noise

all the parts have been bought second hand and I'm going to buy the best Gpu available as cost isn't an issue

I might go with an sli but will need a new psu that's able to handle atleast 2-3 cards

as for ram I'm going to buy any 32 gb of either Kingston or corsair unless the more MHz affects performance

my uses are for gaming and architecture programs such as revit and autocad

Your help will be appreciated

The GTX 980Ti. As for PSU, the EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G2 gets my vote. 850W if you're planning to SLI.

Any more than 2 GPUs is pretty much a waste of money.

Well the PSU is dependent on what 2-3 GPUs you get so if you want top tier stuff you'll probably need at least 1000w or more. probably.

I feel like we should at least assume hes going to get 3 Titans for maximum upgradeability

Yeah, okay. But the performance gains from adding a third card would be so minimal, especially when you take other issues like microstutters into account.

I'm just here to be a sarcastic devils advocate. Personally I wouldn't go past two cards but who am I to talk. His one GPU costs more than my whole system right now

Hi thanx for all the comments, im not very up to date with the latest gpu's so the 3 gpu thing was only if it was needed but from what i understood in your comments 2 would do fine but whats the thing thats best value should I get 2 970s 980s 980ti's titanx's ??? Cost wouldnt be a problem even with the titans but I really dont want to spend my money on something that doesnt make any since .(If one gpu would be fine ill just go for one)

thanks again guys

The best value/performance would be two 980Tis. Any more than that, and you'll see very minimal performance gain.

If I were you, I wouldn't go SLI at all. At least for time being, except you're planning to play games in 4K. I guess I'd simply get a single GTX 980 Ti If I were you.
