Okay, so currently I'm running a pretty poor machine and I intend to upgrade within the next month or so.

Current Specifications:

 - CPU: AMDFX 6300

 - Graphics: Sapphire HD7700 (I am aware of how disgusting it is)

 - PSU: Corsair CX750 (Way to overkill I know)

 - Motherboard: ASUS M5 A97 LE R2.0 (Again, pretty awful)

 - RAM: DDR3 Hyper X Fury (16GB in 4 x 4gb)

 - CPU Cooler: Old cooler master

 - Case: NZXT Phantom (Not sure on actual model number)

What I plan on buying:

 -  Intel Core i5 6400

 -  Asus Z170-A

 - Asus GeForce GTX 960

 - 16GB of DDR4 Hyper X Fury RAM (2 x 8gb)s - Cooler Master 212 EVO

Budget:

The budget is my only issue, I can probably stretch to around £500 at an absolute maximum (~$700)

Intended Use:

Overnight rendering and gaming.

What I want to do:

I intend to keep my case (NZXT Phantom) and my PSU as it is fully functional.  I would like to keep my current RAM but a new motherboard will not support it.  My current graphics card and processor are complete trash for both of those tasks and my processor hits 60 degrees centigrade just by loading up a game such as CS:GO.  I don't see a need to overclock and so the 212 EVO should suffice my needs.  I'm also running 3 monitors, two of which are in low resolution which the 960 should be fully capable of.

Peripherals:

I don't need to upgrade anything peripheral wise.

Any suggestions?

Thank you, Tom

Are you sure you need a rather expensive Z170 board if you buy a locked CPU?

You have an overclocking motherboard with a non overclockable chip, which is a big waste of resources, considering the motherboard wont affect performance, only 'connectivity' of hardware

Maybe get the 6600k if you really want that MB, I have it and it is plenty enough for anything I throw at it.

That's very true, will change my preference on that, thank you - would you be able to point me in the right direction?
