Temperature logging software.

Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,

HWMonitor if you want to watch the temperatures constantly/check them periodically.

MSI Afterburner if you want them written to a log file.

I would personally just run Aida64 and Heaven/Valley (separately) and watch your CPU/GPU temps respectively in HWmonitor.

Hi,

I've just been playing games for a some time and  then my screen just went black. I knew that it has to be something with temperatures so I opened my case and it was literally like an oven. The problem is I don't know what failed first, my CPU or GPU, both of them get really hot but I have never encountered power cut like this before. Even viewer just has kernel-power critical failure entry. So could you please tell me if there is any piece of software that could log my temperatures? Especially the last one before shutdown.

Thank you <3

I need S340. But more Define S'ish

I don't get it.. Temperatures are okay.. But it randomly shut off.. why?

Is your system overclocked? Maybe something isn't stable.

Run Aida64 for at least an hour and see if it casues a crash, then run Heaven Benchmark to see if that causes a crash. If neither cause a crash, then run Memtest 86+ for a few hours, if your system still doesn't crash, then redo everything but for even longer. If your system still isn't crashing, then it sounds like either windows is corrupted or you have some issue with your psu/electrical outlet.

It may be unstable, however, it was only +10 MHz offset from my normal overclock. I've seen couple of artifacts during gameplay.
Windows.. Yeah, It's trash.. I've been seeing artifacts when booting (white moving dots and blink of strip of blue lines) , but when it restarted now, everything was normal, I don't know why.

By the way, heaven benchmark should NOT be used as a stability test as you can pass a thousand heaven rounds and don't survive an hour in FurMark. At least from my experience. Can overclock my card with +160 MHz on core and +400 on memory and be stable in Heaven while +130 on core and +200 on memory is too much for FurMark to handle..

Furmark will kill your card if you're not careful with it.

What do you mean by "kill"?

As in, it can force the card to overheat and die. As long as you're paying attention to temperatures it's not really a problem, it's just something to be mindful of and isn't something I would want to leave running when I'm not watching it.

No worries. Ran my 960 for an hour in closed case with almost no airflow and card's fans locked at 25%. Nothing happened. Temperatures never exceeded 85 degrees. This beauty throttles so well.
