Hi I'm thinking about buying this motherboard http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-a68hmk

you see I have these 2 ram sticks http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231307

I was wandering will they fit on the motherboard? They are 240 pin and the motherboard supports 240 pin. But you see when I try to put my ram sticks on PcPartpicker its telling me they are not compatible. Do I need to buy new ram sticks? or is PCParpicker just messing with me?

The speed is too low. The ram is 1066mhz while the motherboard only takes 1333 minimum.

Too slow needs to be 1333mhz at least and you have a 1066 stick

Yep that should work just fine. Good luck with your build :) If you want any help with the rest of it feel free to comment in this thread again and i'll try my best.

Okay thank you. Just one more question if i may. Do I have to buy thermal compound for the CPU? Im basically upgrading my PC. Im getting a new motherboard, CPU, Graphics card, and power supply.

Or does the thermal compound come with the CPU?

Thermal compound does usually come pre-applied on the cooler but I would definitely recommend removing it and putting your own on. I recommend Noctua HT-H1 and Arctic Silver 5. To remove thermal compound, get some isopropyl alcohol (as high a percentage as you can find), put a bit on a piece of cotton and rub it off. It is very cheap, usually 5 - 10 bucks for a little syringe that'll last you for at least 20 applications which is pretty insane.

Another quick observation, try to get the ram in a kit as it is guaranteed to work together. You also dont have a cpu cooler or case. For the cpu cooler, i'd go with the Hyper 212 evo since it's really good for the price if you're going to overclock. If not, make sure your cpu comes with a stock cooler in the box. Case is up to you, just make sure it fits everything.
