Hey Guys,

I am looking to upgrade my Dell Optiplex 990 i purchased 4 months ago. The specs for the system are:

Intel Core I5 2500 3.3ghz

8gb DDR3 RAM (Purchased another stick when i got the pc)

250gb SATA HDD

No GPU

I am looking to get a GPU and a new case, motherboard and if needed new PSU, I have looked around places and haven't really seen anything that catches my eye.

I am looking to stay under the budget of $500.

Thanks alot guys!

I only managed to add GPU, PSU, Motherboard because i selected a best budget GPU. I didn't include CASE because PSU is more important than case. With this build you will be able to play AAA titles with 1080p at medium setting. You may cut the price of GPU by buying 750 ti but than you will have very hard time with AAA titles.

Note :- 1) Check weather your current case support ATX or not

           2) In case if you are not able to find same mobo (motherboard) than you need a mobo that has this chipset : B65  , H61 ,

               Q67 , H67 ,  P67,  Z68,  B75 ,  Q75  , Q77 ,  H77 ,  Z75 , Z77 and it is easy to find a chip set of the motherboard in-case

of Intel , Chipset is hidden in the model no. for example here Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H  has B75 chip set. And "Micro ATX "

is the size of the motherboard. There are other size available like ATX , mini ATX , ITX etc. and with the help of this size

you have to choose right case.

          3) For power supply you need at least 500W and go for good brand 80+ certified product for your PC in long run.

          4) For Graphics card go for GTX 960 or R9 380 ( 2Gb or 4Gb you will not see any differences in  performance) to play AAA titles at 1080p
