Ive been using Windows 10 since it gave me the option to update, today i had to force shut down my computer because windows wasnt responding for atleast 10 mins, when trying to reboot it wouldnt boot to the login screen, after trying for multiple hours i decided to mount the windows drive in my ubuntu(installed on a separate hard drive) and copy over my important files that i cant lose, after typing in the commands i had to reboot and not ubuntu wont start either! when in the recovery mode for ubuntu it tells me that windows wasnt shut down correctly and to shut down windows correctly, since i cant boot into windows how can i do this? or is there any other ways to get my files off of windows that i need? Thanks in advance!

Do you have another computer on hand? You could possibly swap the hard drive out of your computer onto another working system then pull the files from there.

Can you get into a live Ubuntu USB/DVD? If so, that will allow you to access your files in order to back them up.

It shouldn't do that unless you did something more by accident. But anyways, use a Live CD/USB, not a Linux install.
