Hello,

I realize that this might be a over used topic but meh ...

I am planning to upgrade my current gaming PC to a up to date version.

My current set up is : i7 870 3ghz, 16GB ram DDR3 1333mhz; GTX 770; 2 HDD 1 of 1TB and 1 of 2 TB

I have a ASUS VG278 the one with the Nvidia 3D Vision 2 Glasses included and a Samsung T240 (1920x1200) .. ik.

Looking into selling the Samsung and getting a secondary VG278HE

Gaming at 1080p.

CPU: I was interested in getting a i7 5930k; i know the 5960x has a slower speed per core and for gaming 6 cores are more than enough.

Cooler: Noctua NH-U9S

GPU: In terms of video card I suppose I can afford to get 2 GTX 980Ti but I would rather have 1 Titan X and save some money.

MBO: I am looking into getting a Asus X99 Deluxe, looking into a ATX motherboard to fit into the case that I want to get.

RAM: I was thinking of 2x HyperX Fury Black 32GB DDR4 2666MHz CL15 Quad Channel Kit for ram, the Dominators are too expensive for my taste in terms of RAM.

Storage: SSD Samsung 850 Pro 512GB and a WD Black 5TB SATA-III 7200RPM 128MB for storage.

PSU: Corsair HX1000i

Case: NZXT H440 Razer Special Edition

I am mainly using the PC for gaming and day to day use looking into future-proofing the build, not expecting to upgrade for the next 5 years.

I am pretty much adamant about the Case and would like to know opinions on the rest of the build.

Opinions on improving it, thinking of maybe getting a NZXT Kraken X41 instead of the Noctua but not sure how reliable the closed loop water coiling is compared to air.

Don't bother with the 5930K, grab the 5820K and use the money saved for the second 980ti, 2x 980ti will crush a titan, there is no reason to buy a titan other than bragging rights as a mildly overclocked 980ti will beat it

Going for a Titan X is not saving money, it's a waste of money when you can just go for a 980Ti and add one later.

There's little reason to get the 5930K for this build, the identical 5820K will be a much better value CPU.

16GB of RAM is enough for gaming, 32GB is just overkill.

An 850W PSU will do fine. I personally think 1000W is overkill.

Also consider getting a higher resolution monitor, this all way too much for 1080p gaming.

Just thought I would throw this in there;

If you're only looking to game at 1080p, then why get two 980 TI's? That sounds more along the lines of serious 1440p/4K gaming. Just a thought! :D I have a single 980 TI and run games beautifully at 1080p, without issue. Also, you won't need that much RAM unless you are under a very serious workload, like having multiple monitors with tons of applications running at the same time. Like if you were editing videos while doing tons of other stuff. It's nice to have and all, but just go with two 8GB sticks for now. I'm sure it'll suite you just fine!

Hope this helps!

Then just do a custom water cool loop and super duper clock everything

Wow thx guys for the quick reply's. Love the set-up stealth but i am hitting my first wall. Forgot to mention I am not a savvy guy when it comes to overclocking the components and also it seems that I do not have available all the parts since I live in Romania we do not have everything available.  The ROG swift I will keep cause its awesome, kinda expensive for a monitor but hey, got used with 2 monitors so I will see about that. The Ripjaws are out of the question cause we do not have G-Skill here, some corsairs, kingstons and HyperX. Got to chose from HyperX Savage Black 32GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15 1.35v or Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 32GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15 or even Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB DDR4 2666MHz CL15 which are more expensive but manageable. Pretty scared of the H100i of which we have the "Corsair Hydro Series H100i GTX Extreme Performance" named version. Will stick with either 2 980ti or a titan x ... will still dwell on it cause I found only the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti SC GAMING ACX 2.0+ 6GB DDR5 384-bit one not superclocked.

Keep em comming

Got a quick question as a follow up on this.

I have decided to go with the 980ti but the

ASUS GeForce GTX 980 Ti 20th Anniversary Gold Edition 6GB

edition one that would suit me well .... but , going with the PG279Q I think 2 cheaper 980ti would go better like the

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 980 Ti G1 GAMING 6GB

or 2 refference cards ?

what do you guys think ?
