I recently bought a custom built gaming rig, with 8 GB (2x4 GB) DDR4 2133 MHz memory. I want to upgrade to a total of 16 GB RAM, and buying identical memory is cheap where I live, but would it be better to buy memory with 2400 MHz or 2666 MHz or is it not worth the extra cost? And if I buy memory with different MHz, can I use both kits at the same time in the same system (use one 8 GB kit of 2133 MHz and one 8 GB kit of 2666 MHz) or would that not give max performance from the better memory sticks?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think your ram will run at the speed of the slowest stick.

Intel Core 6700K | Gigabyte GTX 970 | Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133

Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo | Phanteks Enthoo Pro | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB | Western Digital Blue 2TB

EVGA Supernova G2 750 | Microsoft Windows 10 | 2x 1080p monitors

So if I want to upgrade to faster memory, I would have to replace the current memory sticks aswell? But is it worth upgrading to faster memory, or just go for a little bit more memory?
