Hello, been watching Linus for a long time but decided to check out the new forums and get some advice.

I recently ordered a 2500k and a CM 212 evo and was hoping to put a mild overclock on it to around 4.2GHz. What I'm wondering is if this should be attainable just by adjusting the multiplier, or if I'll need to adjust voltage as well. Are there any other settings I should be looking at taking off default or auto when I do this? This will be my first overclock so if there's something important newbies frequently miss please shout it out.

Also, before anyone asks why I didnt go for an ivy bridge chip it is because the mobo that I own has known boot loop issues (of which i have had none) so I really didnt want to update the bios to get ivy bridge compatibility when everything is working smoothly.

Take up multiplier until 4GHz and work your way up. Don't have the vcore higher than 1.42-1.44 and temps should be kept around 70 degrees. Let us know what you manage. Those chips can do 5GHz on water :) Remember to run Prime95 for at least for 24 hours- as recommended by Linus.
