Raid 0 - capacity combo

Go to solution Solved by Zach Is Kill,

You can do that, but it will only be a total of 240GB of storage. Also keep in mind, that some of the SSDs on ebay have their firmware edited to look like they have more capacity.

Thanks for a quick reply! So it's a waste of 120gigs.. I think i might skip this 1.
I'll keep this in mind... if the deal looks too good to be true it probably is, right?

Yeah, i imagine there are some legitimate sellers out there, but some people will buy really low capacity ssds, swap the cases and edit the firmware on them to look like they have a really high capacity. So once you exceed the actual amount of storage, you'll be reading and writing a bunch of garbled data. I was in the same position you were in a while back, I saw a 480GB ssd for about 40 bucks. Fortunately, i read up on it, and didnt buy it. Storage and power supplies are just about the only things that I wouldnt buy used.

can they somehow make it look factory sealed? If they can, i will never trust ebay on this again xD (the cardboard box that it comes in etc.)
