CSGO Opening as Background Process

So as the title says, when I open CounterStrike: GO a black screen pops up for a second like it's going to open but then goes away. If I try to start up CSGO again, it will tell me that it's already running. So, I open my task bar and it's in the background processes. I close it out and try again.. and again.. and again. Sometimes restarting my computer would help me load it for around one game before it crashes or freezes and can't play it anymore, so then i have to close it when I open it, it goes back to background processes.

I "upgraded" to windows 10 from Windows 8 for a day.. CSGO ran fine and opened and was playable (yay) but I had other issues with the OS and went back to Windows 8.. where my problem resumed. I've tried uninstalling CSGO and re downloading it (no luck), I've tried verifying the integrity (no luck), I've looked and found no updates for my graphics card drivers.. I'm at a loss.

I'm not very good with computers and don't know what else to try. PLEASE HELP! I really love this game.

go to task manager, go to details, try and find processes related to CS:GO, and end the process tree, then try and launch it.

this sometimes happens with some of my games and there is sometimes an extra process still running.
