Slow internet speed on chrome

So recently, for about 2 or 3 weeks, I have been struggling with really slow speed on chrome. It takes forever to load pages on the internet, watch YouTube, and also streaming google play music is extremely slow. I can not watch YouTube at anything above 240p without it buffering constantly and even stranger, google play music buffers even slower than YouTube. Today I figured I'd try using Microsoft edge to see if it was just chrome being slow and streaming was so much faster. I could stream Google play music without buffering and I could watch YouTube at 1080p without buffering. Stranger yet, this is not just happening on my windows 10 desktop, it is also happening on my Chromebook which normally is lightning fast.

 

My current internet speeds (tested via speedtest.net) are 8.44 Mbps down and .86 Mbps up with a 20ms Ping while hardwired.

This is also happening on my university wifi which I tested today with my Chromebook only (as I can't lug around my PC on campus) as ~ 20 Mbps down and 30 Mbps up. 

 

I just did a fresh install of chrome right before this post and it didn't seam to make any difference. Also, a side note, Streaming on my phone and tablet off of my network via wifi works just fine.

 

For whatever its worth here are my pc specs and Chromebook specs.

 

PC: 

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3

CPU: AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5 GHz

GPU: Asus Radion R9 270x

 

Chromebook:

Acer c720

Chrome has its own built in flash player, IE does not. If you still want to use chrome, delete any macromedia flash player you have installed. Then download a free pc cleaner to remove temp file, browsing history etc, all of which slows up your computer. Chrome definately has an issue with cache usage recently though. I would switch to firefox personally.

Thanks for the advice I might start using firefox since that also appears to be working much faster than chrome.

I think googles plan was to put everything you need to browse internet content in one package, but this is clearly back firing.
