Hello Guys,

I was thinking about completly changing my current Audio Setup but noticed, that it is really hard to find the "right" equipment, so I was hoping, that you could help me by giving me some ideas.

Current "Audio Setup":

Headphones:
- AKG K518DJ -> for the price imo the sound is quite good, but i currently have the problem, that its a matter of days until my non-removable cable is completely broken :(

Main Music Source: Spotify Premium (extreme Quality)

Home:
- PC
-> ASRock Z170 extreme4 Mainboard (onboard sound) - Currently only rarely used with my K518DJ Headphones, as the G35 is run via USB

-> Logitech G35 Headset as mic and headphones - already quite old, I dont really like the sound quality anymore. The mic would still be fine for me for now, as I mainly skype with it.

Audio Mixing: (I do live Audio mixing at a local church about once a week, sometimes 3 times a week, sometimes only every 2 weeks - farely often)

- Behringer X32 Mixer (Wont be changed^^ just that you know, what I work with)

- I am not in a seperate room or anything like that, so open-back headphones are no option, as the surrounding environment can be farely loud.

On the go:

- OnePlus One (sadly the sound qualitiy is not that great)

Music I listen to:

- Pop

- Rock

- Classical

- Jazz

- some EDM

Main goals/questions:

- New headphones (with a detachable cable!) for

-> Mixing

-> Audio Editing at my PC at home

- As long as they last I will continiue to use my AKGs on the go

- Would a DAC/AMP for my PC setup be benificial?

- A DAC/AMP for my phone on the go?

- A combination of both??

My Budget:

I don't really have a fixed budget. I would rather only get new good headphones for now and wait with a DAC/AMP if you think I don't really need one with my current PC.
It would be great to have a mobile solution quite soon aswell.
Generally I would like to stay between a max. of 200-250€ / 220-280USD Maybe 300€ depending on the situation.

Thanks for your help :) If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

is that last budget for only headphones? or the whole package?

Currently it is for the whole package, but as I said, my main focus for now are the headphones, so depending on which ones I might get, I would wait with the other stuff.

ahh okay, I don`t think a AMP/DAC is necessairy for now, it all starts with good files (which you have), than headphones, than DAC/AMP and on and on and on. So I`d go for some good headphones like  Beyer DT770, V-MODA Crossfade, AKG K550 or Sony MDR-V1, look around on some sites, but this would be my recommandation

to game or not to game, that`s the question

Oh, I forgot to mention it. Edited now. I would really prefer to have a detachable cable, as I dont want the headphones to be obsolete because of a broke cable after 1-2 years.

just open them up, drill a hole in them and solder a detachable cable to it, isn`t as scary as it sounds
