Hey all,

I've got 4 case fans, 2 intake (front and side) 2 exhaust (back and top).  The fan in the front is direct PSU plugged as my mobo only supports 3 case and 1 CPU. I'm looking to get a fan controller as having the front one running full speed is rather loud.

I have a couple quick questions as I've never used one before. It looks like most of them have the the fan connectors and Molex power, is this pretty standard? Side note, is it just sort of fiddle with dem knobs until you have a good balance of heat to noise ratio? Finally, can anyone suggest a good one, preferably inexpensive (Canadian)

hey you could just use a fan Y-splitter and split a motherboard header and use fan curve software to control the fans and keep the cost down which i recommend.

And yes a fan controller usually has more than 1 connector (molex+3-pin/4-pin) for flexibility. You can have an automatic/manual fan controller which reads the temperature of the sensors it comes with and controls the fans, or just manual where you find a balance yourself between temperatures and noise. I cant really recommend one I used a NZXT Sentry (2?) which was like a touch screen type controller. It had auto and manual mode but when i upgraded my PC i just threw it out because fiddling with it all the time was a pain and setup SpeedFan and split the fans of the various headers on the motherboard. Now my fans turn on and off depending on the temperature.

Oh yay someone replied :) More often than not I find my posts get buried, lol. Thanks for the tip, I actually bought a splitter on Amazon about 20 minutes ago. Great minds think alike :) Although I mainly did it for the cost benefit. NZXT products sure look nice, but boy are they pricey.

lol glad i replied then :P

that fan controller was one of the cheaper options at the time when you use it you know why :)

if you are interested in completely controlling your fans with speedfan here is the link to the tutorial i used much much much better than any fan controller
