Hello,

I am new to the PC gaming scene and have been a console gamer since I got in to gaming. But I think it's time for a change! I want to build a PC myself.

I have watched many toturials on youtube and read a lot of articles concerning this topic. I understand most of it and the videos from Linus Tech Tips were really helpful. I'm really struggling with what parts I should use. Mostly when I see the videos I cannot follow with the names of the tech. I know that is not that big of a deal but it is nice to know wich parts are good and wich parts suck.

I want to build a PC that has upgrading potential. I don't want to rush into this with a 2000 dollar PC and then later regret spending all that money. (I probably won't, but I need to take this into account). So really I want a 600 dollar-ish gaming PC, it doesn't need to be fancy or something. Maybe just a PC where I can enjoy the new experience!  I've done some research and looked at cases that were quiet (I don't want a jet engine like my ps4) and I've come across the Define R5. Is it any good? I know it is on the more expensive side but I'm going to use this case for X-amount of years.

I don't know wether this budget is enough to get a descent build, but I'm hoping this will get me started.

Can you help me? (link to good websites or even give tips yourselve, everything is gladly welcome)

Thanks for reading this post, I hope I can get quickly into the "PC master race" as I've read on many websites.

Have a wonderful day.

the r5 is around 90 US dollars and i personally wouldn't want to buy it considering your budget. Answer these questions please: 1. what do you plan to use this pc for? 2. do you prefer silence over performance, the other way around or do you want it to be equal? 3. does size matter? (insert d!ck joke here) does your pc case size matter i meant to say 4. what games do you plan on playing and at what minimal settings? 5. how long do you want this pc to last? 6. do you need any peripherals such as a keyboard, mouse, monitor etc. and if you do, do they count in your budget or do you plan to pay 600 dollars only on the pc + the money required for the peripherals?

i5 4440

Gigabyte H97

8 Gb DDR3 RAM -1600Mhz

samsung 240 GB SSD

A PSU around 450 Watts

gtx 750ti

This will cost you around 600-650 US dollars

a perfect low range gaming Pc

it can handle the games for the next 3 odd years

gtx 750 ti? for 600 dollars? that's the most retarded thing i've ever heard in my life. no offense.

240 gb ssd? sh!t man, he doesn't plan only on playing minecraft with mods. games are getting bigger every single day

1. I Plan to use it for gaming/productivity (with productivity I mean Word, Excel, Ppt; the usuals. not editing videos, Ps,...)

2. I do prefer silence over performance but it doesn't need to be. It can make noice, I just want a relatively quiet room to play in. So you can say it is equal.

3. (size never matters, it's the way you you use it ;) haha) I don't want it to take a lot of space. I think the size of the R5 is like the maximum.

4. I don't know yet, I'll see. 1080p 60 fps? I am used to it on the console so I've never experienced it so this is fine, I guess?

5. I want it to last quite a while, but later on I am willing to upgrade some parts.

6. The budget is only for the PC itself. Peripherals are not a problem

If he gets a normal motherboard

then he can get a gtx 960 in his budget

and the ssd is just for OS he has to have an HDD

600-650 dollars is for the whole PC not for only gtx 750ti

the choice for your GPU is very low, 2GB for 1080p gaming? that won't surpass the 60fps

most games don't even utilize 1gb. my second system has this gtx 960 and i can play gta v high settings with about 70-ish fps on 1080p

y get a r9 380? the 960 has much more options, better overclocks so it can become even better than the 380, comes with many nvidia features, less heat etc.

@MarkoCroatiaMC i doubt that, i've seen enough videos and in real life people playing with a gtx 960 with 2gb Vram and they just hit low 60 max with high settings.

low 60 max with high settings? 60 fps is low?!? the r9 380 gets the same performance + u can oc the gtx 960 if you want more fps. studies have shown that around 83% of gamers can't see the difference between 60 fps on 60 hz and 120/144 fps on 120/144 hz displays.

i knew that. but. he can get a 4gb model of the gtx 960. r9 380 has shorter life span because of it's heat and it becomes even hotter when oc'ing. won't get any further than 1100 mhz. if even 1050.

well that's your choice and i can't change that.

yeah. but why not make it a 4gb 960, like this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tWRVhM ? the problem with amd is that they develop great technology and they share with nvidia, while the problem with nvidia is that they develop technology and DON'T share it with amd. that's why many features that nvidia cards offer are exclusives for only, well, nvidia cards. that's why i went for the 960 in my second rig.
