Just wondering, this is my first build, so inexperienced and was wondering if you guys could recommend any better parts or anything about pc building in general. Thank you.

Try the R9 390 over the 970, much better price to performance.

even though the motherboard has 4 RAM slots, i would advise to go with an single stick of 8GB instead of 2 sticks of 4GB

don't even go with the R9 390, go with the R9 290. Though R9 290 is power hungry

i agree, but is the R9 390 even going to run any game at 1920 x 1080 at 144Hz? (the chosen monitor is after all an BenQ XL2430T 144Hz 24.0" Monitor which can run 1920 x 1080 at 144Hz)

it can easily handle 1080p 60+fps

2 problems, 1 don't pay for a wd black.. it's way too expensive.. you can get 2 2TB drives for that and don't us a cx PSU, look at EVGA B" 750W or G2 650W

the 390... IS THE 290

The reference design is exactly the same in terms of pcb layout from 8gb 290's. They have exactly the same power draw, the only difference is the 390 is just about as fast as the 290x.

32gbs of ram. You think he'll need 32gb of ram, simply... No.

2x4 is perfectly fine, running single channel 8gbs is not ideal for a gaming machine, though it doesnt make much difference, its still free performance. For the forseeable future 16gbs is more than enough.

i'd go with a 390 over the 970, everything else seems oke.
