2 problems, 1 don't pay for a wd black.. it's way too expensive.. you can get 2 2TB drives for that and don't us a cx PSU, look at EVGA B" 750W or G2 650W

the 390... IS THE 290

The reference design is exactly the same in terms of pcb layout from 8gb 290's. They have exactly the same power draw, the only difference is the 390 is just about as fast as the 290x.

2x4 is perfectly fine, running single channel 8gbs is not ideal for a gaming machine, though it doesnt make much difference, its still free performance. For the forseeable future 16gbs is more than enough.
