So I'm building a new rig relatively soon and want to put it into a custom scratch case i will build. I'm planning to use wood but i don't know what type and whether to go 1/2" or 3/4" for strength. Also recommendations for something like front io would help, keep in mind i have an old $50 case im gonna probably chop up to get motherboard tray. and i can use fan grills and drive bays etc. etc. from

I am not educated in this topic, but I've heard plywood? I think 1/2" should be enough given it's strong wood

Half inch should be plenty thick. The hard part is the fans. Drilling the holes for the fans  while  writing this i realized that you can just drill a large hole rather than perforation and cover it with a fan grill.

If I use words like probably or most likely, it is because I dislike certainty. These words can probably be omitted and the sentence read as a certainty.

That is always amazing when tools aren't a problem.
